Little did I know that my food service experience would be such important practice for dealing with the interpersonal relationships I would develop with clients as a dietitian. My passion for nutrition was sparked by my diagnosis of celiac disease and a desire to learn about the relationship between nutrition and my own well-being. My schooling and early years as a dietitian were filled with the 'ol "eat less, move more", "calories in calories out", "calorie restriction = weight loss = improved health" and all the other diet culture jargon that I now believe promotes disordered eating.

Then I was introduced to Intuitive Eating and now my approach is weight-neutral/weight-inclusive and non-diet, and I use the Principles of Intuitive Eating in my work. I am currently completing training towards becoming a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. I love being part of the movement of nutrition professionals who are working to dismantle diet culture.

I live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and I am licensed to provide nutrition counseling in both North Carolina and Illinois. In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, and hanging out with friends and family including my very active 6-year-old child and beautiful, cantankerous cat.

I will be available for appointments on Wednesdays from 9:00am-1:00pm central time. I am an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Blue Choice Plans, and I also offer a sliding scale. For more information about me or any other questions you may have, feel free to email me at jessica@visionnutritioncounseling.com.

About Jessica:

My name is Jessica Iselin (she/her). I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and have been practicing since 2007. I have worked in a variety of healthcare and community settings, including a supermarket, a dialysis center, outpatient nutrition clinics, and in several hospitals. Much of my recent experience has included working with pregnant people with gestational diabetes, and with adults, children, and infants with kidney disease. I fully recognize how contentious healthcare and wellness spaces can be for those who struggle with their relationship with food and their bodies. My goal is to help you understand that all bodies deserve to be nourished and respected, regardless of size, ability, and health status.

Before I became a dietitian, I earned a degree in English with a focus in creative writing and media studies and went on to become a very well-read barista and server in restaurants all over the country.
